one of my client get demand notice from ITD with a payment of 1lakh
in the AY 2022-23 he filed his it return with an income of 6lakh and get a refund amount after tax and he filed the updated return for the same AY becouse he has get a tds credit after 31-12-2022 then he filed updated return with an income of 9 lakh and pay the excess tds credit amount to department but now the demand notice says any tax not paid to the total income what to do?

Actually on 1st return he has tds credit worth and 98838 he paid 22702 as tax and balance get refunded.
and in the updated return his. tds credit worth 168454 and he paid 98875 as tax and not claimd the tds of refended in the actual return

Please check Your (both) Intimation/Assessment order. How dept assessed the income.
Bcoz,
We can't file ITR U if claim Refund. So, Dept Computed the updated return without it's details.

I didn't understand that the department how to assessed the income bocoz both of the return filed with the tax on total income and paid it from tds credit. then how they said that no amount paid for the income
Upload the notice and revised return.
