Demand due for income tax paid 2 years back while processing the return

I had paid INR 2800 income tax two years back in July while filing the return and also have the bank statement to prove it but there is a demand notice for this amount which has come to me now. I tried searching the epay payment history and challan but there is no record.

How should I respond to this? I agree with the demand and have already paid but somehow income tax portal has no record and is asking for a challan number. I have bank statement as the only proof.

Quick Summary
A user has received a demand notice for income tax they paid two years ago, but the tax portal shows no record of the payment. Despite having bank statements as proof, they are unable to respond to the notice without a challan number. Advice suggests contacting the bank for a copy of the challan or checking payment confirmation emails for transaction details.

Unless challan with your PAN no. is found, you cannot respond to the demand notice.

The bank payment can be in any other PAN also, so that proof is not valid.

Contact your bank for challan copy.

Please double check the email or message received from the bank after the payment, it may contain the challan code or necessary payment information. If not found, contact the Geometry Dash World bank to confirm the transaction or retrieve the challan code.
