Deloitte to up staff by 20 pc in India to 18,000 by 2012

MUMBAI: Courtesy the surge in India's economy, global consulting firm Deloitte plans to increase its staff strength by 20 per cent to 18,000 by 2012 in the country.

Deloitte aims to increase its number of professionals by an additional 20 per cent to more than 18,000 by the year 2012, the company said in a release issued here on Monday.

"As the global attention shifts towards India , and its opportunities in the new economic environment emerge in India, Deloitte with its focus on hiring, developing, and deploying the best talent in the region, will help clients capitalise on these new market realities," Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu's global Chief Executive, Jim Quigley, said.

Deloitte, a part of the 'Big Four' consulting firms world-wide, will also be investing more than USD 500 million in emerging markets like India, China, Brazil, Russia, south-east Asia and the Middle-East, the release added.
