Quick Summary
When returning goods in bad condition from another state, a delivery challan is generally required alongside a debit note, even if all details are on the debit note. This is primarily because the e-way bill system specifically requires a delivery challan as the document type. It also serves to clearly identify the transaction as a purchase return, distinguishing it from a new sale to the authorities.

Yes delivery challan is required for e-way bill
Sir material details, quantity, value and taxes all are mentioned in debit note. Then why delivery challan?

Because the format of e-way bill is such is that it will only accept delivery challan for document type.

Another reason is to convince the dept that these are purchase returns which are delivered to us ..

And these are not fresh sales
Yes it is required compulsorily
