further to my question yesterday about my vision disability and my wanting to claim a deduction under

section 80C, I want to know from whom this certificate is to be obtained. I have very low vision as I am suffering from a condition called Retinitis pigmentosa and have only tunnel vision in both my eyes. Thank you.

You should get the certificate of Disability from Government Hospitals who are so authorized. The Sec is 80U & not 80C. The amount allowable will depend on % of disability.

Deduction in case of person with disabilty:
Eligible assessee: A resident individual, who, at any time during the previous year, is certified by the medical authority to be a person with diasabilty.

As per my opinion you should get it from Govt Hospital.
