Deducted tds to be paid annually or quarterly

Hi,

I recently worked as an employee for an organisation for 3 months(June-Aug). All the salary slips do contain the tax deduction. But now that I have left the organisation, they say that I will receive the form 16 only in the next year as all their TDS payments are made and I should expect the form 16 in June 2016. Is this correct? I thought the TDS's were supposed to be remitted by the employers on a month (or quarterly) basis. Please guide me.

Thank you.

Yes it is true, you will receive form 16 annually and that too in the month of may-june 16

Don't worry. They are following the law correct. Please retain the salary slips.

Thank you Ms. Rinkal. I was just a bit worried as the present company that I am working with wants me to give them my form16. Anyway I will explain this to them. thanks again

Well you can provide a copy of your salary slips of the old employment to the new employer. The reason why the new employer is asking because he wants to know the deductions claimed earlier as well as tds already paid. So that there is no mismatch in deduction of tax
