Data mismatch while linking PAN and Aadhaar card

Namaste,

While linking my PAN to my Aadhaar, I am getting an error that the particulars do not match. But, when I check the name, they do match.

If my father's name has initials on Aadhar but is expanded in PAN, is it a problem? Does father's name need to match?

According to https://www.quora.com/I-linked-my-PAN-and-Aadhar-if-my-fathers-name-has-initials-on-Aadhar-but-is-expanded-in-PAN-is-it-a-problem ,

Aadhaar only matches your name your gender your d.o.b for linking. It has no relevance with Father's name anywhere.

Is that accurate?

What fields in the PAN and Aadhaar card need to match? What fields in the PAN and Aadhaar card need to match? If name, DOB, gender match, is that sufficient?

Thank you.

Quick Summary
This discussion addresses a common issue where users encounter a data mismatch when trying to link their PAN and Aadhaar cards, despite their names appearing to match. The core question revolves around whether discrepancies in the father's name, such as initials on Aadhaar versus a full name on PAN, cause the linking to fail. While some sources suggest only name, DOB, and gender are critical for linking, others indicate that father's name mismatches can also be a problem.

Your name with Adhar doesn't match with that of PAN. It should be exactly same...  Only initial at one place is not matching with full MIDDLE name..

Thanks Dhiraj. Can you clarify your answer. My name doesn't have any middle name either in pan database or aadhaar database. My father's name has first and middle name initials in aadhaar card but full name (no initials) in Aadhaar database.

Data mismatch is not possible. Check every spelling.
Mismatch can be
Name , DOB and father name .

So check these details as per PAN and aadhaar

Name and DOB should be exact in both. father name is not required.
