Cs executive study preparation

Guys I am planning on giving my CS executive exams in dec 2012. I am the moment working and have absolutely no clue as to how to go about studying for it. So I need to prepare a strategy and I hope some of you can help me with it. I have some questions regarding the preparation part:

1. Is the study material given by the CS institute enough for preparation?

2. Should I join a coaching class? This would be impossible as I am working. Or can I buy correspondence material from any coaching classes?

3. If study material given by the institute is not enough what other books/ material do I need?

4. What exactly is a "scanner"?

5. Does going through previous year's question papers help? I mean do questions repeat themselves?

6. How many hours a day should you study?

7. Is there a lot of memorizing to be done, for example remembering sections, dates, figures, etc... or it a logical based paper?

8. Are there many problems based on accounting and taxation? Can these be studied via self study or is coaching required?

 

Thanks these are the questions I have. Would really appreciate if someone could answer them. Thanks

Dear Rahul,

You have answered my queries from 1 to 5. Can you also give me some hints/ suggestions for my queries 6 to 8? In regards to the scanners, is there any particular scanner that you recommend or is there a standard one available in the market? If I were to purchase one from a book store what should I tell the store keeper? One more thing, can you tell me what is the total approximate cost of purchasing all this course material for cs exexcutive and cs final?   But anyways thanks for your help. I notice that you are doing your articleship for CA final. Wish you all the best for it.

How many hours a day should you study?

 

Just give reading to one chapter in a day and prepare own notes with the help of modules or reference books.

  1. I never memorised anything.
  2. Important topics and sections as accordance to Scanner past year que. can be memorise.
  3. I always give reading to the topics as much as I can.
  4. In CS Exe. , I just did the same.
  5. Almost 30 marks are Objective type question in each paper. 
  6. Important Case Laws as was "BOLD" in ICSI Modules needs to pay attention.
  7. Focus on latest amendments for your upcoming exams.

Yes, there are many problems based on accounting and taxation comes in exam. Please Refer the below link to know question paper pattern;

 

 ICSI QUESTION PAPERS

 

These be studied via self study also iff your 11th and 12th base is strong.

For CS Exe......Around Rs. 450 to 600 approx.

For CS Prof..........Around Rs. 650 to 800 approx.

 

U may buy either reliance books or suchita prakashan.

I just give details about scanner price only and not for OTM or SK......I bought these books one year back. So, the price of CS Exe. books may be revised.
