It all depends on the specific field in which you wish to specialise.
Broadly speaking are two options available either you can go for various certifications like certification in valuation or certification in IFRS for which you dont have to invest much time and secondly you can opt for any other qualifications like CIMA or CWA or CFA for which you will have to invest more time.
If you are thinking of starting your own practise in future then Go for certification course on valuation by ICAI. The classes for it are held on sundays and some of the saturdays. Certified valuers will be in high demand as soon as IFRS is implemented in India.
And if you intend to excel in field of Auditing(job or practise), you can go for CISA (Certified Information System Auditors). Its a globally recognised certification and is highly valued by Big4s in India especially KPMG. Even if you intend to start your practise at anytime in future the CISA qualification will be very helpful to you as most of the Nationalised banks prefer firms in which atleast one partner is CISA or DISA certified. Similar to CISA is DISA which is provided by ICAI for its members but CISA being an internationally recognised qualification is far better option than DISA. Exam for CISA is held twice a year in june and december. Exam consists of MCQ's.
If you intend to specialise in the field of Taxation then you may go for Tax Management Course provided by ICAI for its members.
And if you want to establish yourself in field of cost management then go for CIMA, its again an internationally recognised highly valued qualification and there are exemptions in few subjects for members of ICAI.
And if you are interested in career in field of stock market analyst or equity analyst or Financial Management then opt for CFA (USA). Regards.
Hi,
There are many courses which you can pursue with CA. However the choice and decision depends upon many factors like interest, cost, duration, time devotion etc. depending upon your circumstances.
Some of them are >
CS, ICWA, CFA (US), CMA(UK). these are Long term duration with ore than 3 years.
CPA, CFP, CIA, CISA atc. are medium term duration depending upon the devotion and your level of knowledge.
Further there are many certification Programmes like, CIFRS, NCFM, CMA (US) etc.
Select the depending upon your field of interest and personal circumstances.
The combination of CA+CFA is good in case the interest is for Investment banking and Portfolio Management.
The combination of CA+CPA is good , in case interest is in Accounting and Auditing field.
The Combination of CA+CS is also good.
|
The combination of CA+CS is helpful in long run to grab top opportunities at management level. CS is a very good combination with CA as far as course content and understanding the corporate environment is concerned.
If you are having CS qualification then you can easily and confidently handle or administer secretarial work/department along with the account work/finance department.

Also focus on the opinion below:
In today’s time ICAI membership only is not enough. To improve the chances of getting quick job after receiving ICAI membership following practical things are necessary to be considered:
My best wishes are always with you. Be humble and be successful.
