Cop for ca and cs - both allowed?

Hi friends,

Can you please tell me whether a person having COP form ICAI ( Institute of Chartered Accountants of India) can also hold COP from ICSI ( Institute of Company Secretaries of India)?

Please, post your answers with some evidence, so that it will be most helpful for me to know the real status as to whether its worth doing both CA and CS,because I've made up my mind not to go for employment but to only practice...So, I want to know whether its possible for me to function as both practising CA and practising CS?

Hi Shruti..

You cant take up cop for both the degrees.. I dont know if there is any restriction imposed by the ICSI. But as per the professional code of conduct for chartered accountants, if you hold a COP under ICAI, you cant be a practicing member for other professional courses.  Hope I could help you... Feel free to askin case you have any question.

Regards

Poonam

Thank you Ms.Poonam....This has clarified some of my doubts...better to complete CA and get COP from ICAI first and then look at other avenues...
