Dear Friends, As you aware CBDT made major changes in TDS compliances. There was lot of confusion about form 17, UTN & finally, CBDT has postponed the date from 1st April to 30th June. Now also I am not sure whether CBDT will make all the preparation before this date, so on that date also there will be lot of confusion. Yet Form 17 not posted on the website of the NSDL. In the IT Return also we have to show the UTN & up to yet there is no specific clarity about the UTN. CBDT may have to extend the return filling date also. Required opinion of you all to remove the confusion.

the applicability of the form 17 is enforceable from 1st july onwards............
Dear Sir,
from 1st July 2009, new form 17 should appear on NSDL web site. As per my understanding, while paying TDS through form 17(if deductees are less than 10), PAN will be validated and UTN will be generated.if deductees are more, we can prepare and unload the same. for the FY 07-08 and FY 08-09, IT Dept will send UTNs for all the transactions through email to the deductors and deductee can also receive the same from IT Dept. web site. but still no body knows how actually it will work.
