Confused about dt & idt amendments

For Nov-16 exams amendments issued up to 30.04.2016 are applicable.

1. Nov-15 edition study material contains amendments upto 30.04.2015.

2. RTP for Nov-16 exam contains amendments from 01.05.2015 to 30.04.2016.

3. Confusion may have arose because of the following:

Students who have the old edition/finance act study material can do the amendments from the supplementary book which contains amendments from 01.05.2014 to 30.04.2015.

So, students who have the latest study material need not do the amendments from the supplementary book but may cover the illustrations given therein.

Refer to Page No. 26 of the Students' Journal - Sept'16 and clear the air.

Conclusion I have to supplementary?? 

I have a question- amendments upto 30/4/16 are applicable for nov 16. But what about amendment effective from 1/4/16 will be applicable for AY 16-17

Eg. Service tax returns will be filed on 30th nov wef 1/4/16

So for AY 16-17 what will be applicable half yrly returns or a yrly return? Since amendment applicable till 30/4/16 applies but AY 16-17 is applicable for nov 16 exams.

Yes Ankita you have to do the supplementary. Refer the 1st answer to your quesry which gives correct answer.

All amendments upto 30.4.2016 are applicable and you need to only concentrate on this. So to cover these amendments specifically, you should read.

1.Supplementary for A.Y.16-17

2.RTP issued for May and Nov.16 to cover all amendments properly.

But if you are using a book that is latest (say Bangar for IDT) then it automatically covers and highlights the amendments to be applicable upto May 2016 attempt and and you just need to refer the RTP for Nov.16. Supplementary in this scenario, can be used to solidify the points missed during study of reference book like Bangar.

Also supplementary is much more useful if you have covered the topics first in which amendments have been made.

Provisions included after 30/04/2016 are not relevant hence answer the questions as per the amendments introduced upto 30/04/2016 but sometimes there might be a confusion in this regard as institute for some reason may avoid including certain amendment and in that case as well, you should answer only on the basis of amendments specified in supplementary and RTP.

@ Ankita. I don't have link to any such free lecture. But, I will suggest you to purchase Farooq Haq DT/IDT Fastrack. Its not very expensive. Rs.4,000=00 each for DVD or Rs.5,000=00 for pen drive. You can watch them 10 times. So, it helps in revision also.
