Condonation of delay u/s 119(2)(b) for AY 20-21

Hi designated members,

One of my client approached us to file ITR for AY 20-21 after 31 March 21, 26AS shows some TDS has been deducted.

We are to file for condonation of delay application, however after login , under the request section, it is not allowing us to file a request for the same neither on the compliance portal.

As per conversation with ITO of some different ward, he says this can be done only online.

Please advise whether should we approach the department for such condonation manually or there is any way out to do it online?

Thanks

Obtain Approval from CIT under condonation of delay.

Step 1 Logon to ‘e-Filing’ Portal www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in

Step 2 Go to the ‘My Account’ menu located at upper-left side of the page and click on ‘Service Request’. Then select the ‘Request Type’ as ‘New Request’ and Select the ‘Request Category’ as ‘Condonation Request’ and click on ‘Submit’

Step 3 Choose the suitable option located under ‘Response’ column and click on Submit
If a taxpayer fails to e-Verify his/her ITR due to a genuine hardship can submit a condonation request. Moreover, an individual can file a condonation delay request, giving reasons why one hasn’t verified their ITR on the income tax e-filing website for that particular assessment year.
but if you have not filed your ITR and want to file it now by using 119(2)(b) then this option is not available online, one need to manually request to CIT and if he permit then you can file ITR online under 119(2)(b) option and filing details you received from CIT.
After logging into efiling website you do not hv to submit further response.
This response tab is applicable when you hv received any notice.
It happens many a times income tax department sends wrong notice.
