Compare Two or More Years Data In Tally

To compare two years data in a single screen, Tally provide this facility in general. To open two years or more years data in a single screen, open your tally Trial Balance/Profit and Loss Account/Balance Sheet , Now press Alt+C the following screen will be appeared. You can enter dates for the period (From and To ) you want to open in a single company (as shown in below picture).

In above picture From and To dates can be changed and new picture alongwith current data and data of selected period after pressing Alt+C will be appeared in a single screen. It is very much helpful while finalising the balance sheet. The screen will be appeared as under

Two Separate Company and Separate Data Comparision

Yes, it can be done,in case data is lying in two separate company and we want to compare for the same. No problem, it can also be done. In gateway of tally, Open two or all companies which data is to be compared. Keep in mind , before opening/comparing data, all company should be open . It is already explained in earlier posts , how to open two companies at Gateway of Tally.

Open Trial Balance or Profit and Loss Account or Balance Sheet, then press button Alt+C. In this case , first company name will be asked , you can change company name, as shown in below picture.

In this way two year data of separate companies can be compared easily.

1️⃣ Comparing Multiple Years in a Single Company

Open Tally and navigate to any of these reports for the company you want to analyze:
- Trial Balance
- Profit & Loss Account
- Balance Sheet
Once the report is open, press Alt + C on your keyboard.
A new screen will pop up asking for a date range:
- Enter the From date and the To date to select the period you want to compare.
After entering dates, Tally will display the data for the current period and the selected period side by side on a single screen.

Use Case: This is very helpful when finalizing your Balance Sheet or reviewing financials across multiple years for the same company.

2️⃣ Comparing Data of Two Separate Companies

Make sure both companies are opened in Tally at the Gateway of Tally (you can open multiple companies simultaneously).
Open the report you want to compare for the first company:
- Trial Balance / Profit & Loss / Balance Sheet
Press Alt + C.
Tally will prompt you to enter the company name for the comparison data.
Select or type the name of the second company.
Tally will then show data of both companies side by side in a single screen for comparison.

⚠️ Key Points to Remember:

You can compare multiple years within the same company or multiple companies.
Make sure all companies you want to compare are open before you start.
The comparison feature works well for period-based or company-based financial data.

Yes, this is the correct and standard method in Tally—using Alt+C (Column Details) from Trial Balance, P&L, or Balance Sheet to set From/To dates lets you compare multiple years on one screen, provided the company data spans those periods.
