Self study Vs. Coaching classes

Hello,

Personally I feel that Self study is a very good option for every student because without self study it is very difficult to clear any examination. The main reason behind this thinking is coaching also involves a remarkable amount of self study. One of the reasons to go for self study is the confidence factor involved in it. Successful self study may give you an incredible amount of confidence to deal with any kind of subject or course.

But there are certain pre-conditions for self study:

1. Proper guidance is very much important.

2. Choose correct reference books well in advance.

3. Have regular discussions with your friends.

4. Self study may be a failure if you prepare without interaction with anybody else.

5. There are certain topics in CA Final for which special preparation is required and self study may be harmful from the conceptual clarity point of view. So discuss these topics with your friends or with any experienced student.

6. Let me tell you a very important thing coaching also involves self study where as self study does not involve coaching. Reason being in coaching classes also concepts are discussed once or twice. But you have to understand those concepts by self study only.

I live in a village. so, interaction with other CA students is hard. Due to which I am considering coaching in a few subjects. Can u please tell which subjects need coaching more than others, and which can be cleared easily with self study?

In fact in IPCC all the subject can be prepared through Self study. However for some of the chapters of accounts, cost and tax you may go for coaching or you can take help of your friends.

If you follow all the 10 points mention in the article above than self study is enough.

Hi satvir, Go for coaching, dont take the risk.. Have to agree with Ayush.

(Now that u have told u lack discipline and unable to study continuously for a long time)

Pls let me say that self study and classroom teaching are ALTERNATIVES, but NOT SUBSTITUTES for each other.

(You know the difference cos u have studied economics well, i presume)

If one alternative does not work then u have to choose the other... And self study does not seem to be the solution for u...

dont compare cpt with Ipcc...

standards are so high in IPCC more than required....

any way u better give attempt with proper guidance and dont neglect institute materials as well as

scanner

i think for law & audit you don't need coaching, a little guidence will work

but for rest of the subjects i advised u to join coaching.

U must take coaching of those sub. which u find difficult. But with that self study is must. Coaching without self study will not give u gud result.
