Clarification regarding vat liability

I am a registered vat dealer in Karnataka. Our supplier has raised E-sugam on our TIN number, hasn't supplied the stock and he has forgotten to cancel the E-sugam within 48 hours.

Now the problem is sales tax department has downloaded the details of E-sugam raised on our number and questioning the details of the same for which the supplier has forgotten to cancel.

The supplier has also admitted his mistake and given in his letterhead stating that he has forgotten to cancel the E-sugam and also written that he has not supplied the stock to us.

But the sales tax officer is telling that he will issue a notice demanding tax and telling you can appeal in court if you have any differences.

Please help...

Check whether your supplier has raised the sales invoice on you  or not. If the same is not raised by your supplier, You may request for an appointment with senior officials of your Sales Tax officer and try to convience him

The supplier is admitting that he has not raised an invoice on us and he has forotten to cancel the invoice. He has written in his letter head mentionin the list of e sugam numbers for which the esugam has been generated wrongly on us.

For no fault of us, the sales tax officer is trying to put tax on us.
