Dear Sir/ Madam,

One of my relative was getting Pension under Employees Pension Scheme ( EPF) from RPFC, West Bengal.for the last more than 10 Years. He died last month leaving his wife ( Widow). His wife is entitled to get pension. Now, my query is:

a)      Whether the widow needs to claim pension enclosing Death Certificate.

b)      Which Form she needs to submit- is it to be submitted physically to RPFC office.

c)      Can such claim be submitted 'ON-LINE' mode.

I shall be grateful if a proper guidance is obtained.

Here’s a concise guide on pension claims by the widow under the Employees’ Pension Scheme (EPS):

a) Does the widow need to claim pension enclosing Death Certificate?

Yes, the widow needs to claim the pension by submitting the deceased member’s Death Certificate along with the claim form. This is necessary to establish the member’s death and to initiate the widow’s pension.

b) Which form needs to be submitted?

The widow must submit Form 10-D (Application for monthly pension) under the EPS.

c) Submission mode (Physical or Online)

  • The claim can be submitted physically at the concerned Regional Provident Fund Commissioner (RPFC) office.

  • The EPFO also provides an online facility for pension claims through their unified portal:

  • Note: For a widow who may not have direct login credentials, the employer or a family member may assist or approach the EPFO office directly.

Additional tips:

  • The widow should also submit a copy of her identity proof and bank details for pension credit.

  • It’s advisable to check with the local RPFC office for any additional documentation or requirements.
