Chartered accountant or e-file tax return, which is better?

How is your income and expense scenarios? Do you have complex cases like real estate, rental income, insurance payments, stock market etc? 

I too have been using a chartered accountant for filing tax returns. My CA charges only Rs 1,500 every year and he takes care of everything. He usually asks me a few clarifications but other than that my role is only to provide my Forms to him. He will take care of everything. I haven't tried any e-filing sites but but I saw many ads of hamaratax.com claiming they will show us a lot of opportunities to save taxes that are usually not used by the chartered accountants. I might try it this year. In foreign countries, most people use such sites since those sites will handle a lot of complex scenarios. 

If you are not happy with your chartered accountant, try hamaratax.com or even the government official website https://incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in/. The primary difference between government and private tax filing websites are, the government sites are free but the private websites give a lot of options for tax savings.

depending on your financial transactions you can select between a CA or TRP, but where the CA makes cross-checking of data and then files the return, the TRP submits the same as submitted by you without  looking iin depth of it, and ask for data only to the extent as required to fill the ITR

choice is yours

Depend on your transaction if you have lot of transaction plus share plus capital gain then he may charge you

plus if you are his old customer then you can understand him if he hasnt increase his fees from last 4 to 5 years then he can increase
