Challan Serial Number is taken numeric - no leading zeros

Hi,

I helped file ITR1 for my relative. He paid self assessment tax and bank generated challan serial number as 00875.

However in the ITR utility offline, system is taking it as only 875. I though serial number is not numeric but full number including leading zeros. See the screenshot. Is everything OK or will IT dept take it as mismatch? They might say 875 does not match with 00875 so payment is not received? Thanks.

No problem

Hi Rajesh,

Did your ITR processed witout any issue? I am also having same issue this year

I had same issue during AY 22 23. I raised greivances many times but was told to file revised return and same issue persisted of tax credit mismatch. However when 143(1) issued it was taken into act with no demand no refund. Though satisfied but still it shows tax cr mismatch which did not vanish.

This AY 23 24 also same issue persisted when I paid self assessment tax (300). Showing tax cr mismatch of all challans starting with ZERO digit. It is happening for others also. It appears to be some bug in software. I suggested to Dept to allow to enter "*" in case where challan no starts with ZERO. Hope some solutions would be evolved.

I am also facing same problem . While updating tax paid section  I can type zero which is in starting of challan sl number(01131) but after saving and again checking zero is not there only i can see 1131. System is not taking zero

Will be any problem afterwords

No problem Malhar.
