Cessation of director inc22a

Hello -

We have a private limited company for which one of the 2 Directors expired recently. We also could not file INC-22A ACTIVE. Now we want to add Directors but INC-22A requirements say that you can only add directors in case of cessation otherwise it is blocked.

1) What is definition of Cessation in Corporate Law ? Can cessation be defined as end of director term due to resignation or death of director?

2) Will the ROC system allow us to file cessation, and add directors even though the company is showing not Active ?
