A Certified Financial Planner is one who takes a holistic view of financial life of an individual and provides him with strategic advice in regard to investment, insurance, tax, retirement and estate needs. Unlike product sellers who represent the interest of manufacturers of these products, a Certified Financial Planner works for the consumer, and does not have any particular product in mind when approaching a client.Certified Financial Planner (CFP) is an international certification program being conducted in the country by Financial Planning Standard Board (FPSB), India.

Curriculum of CFPCM Certification Program
The CFP certification is granted to those individuals who have demonstrated technical competency to create a comprehensive and detailed financial plan (as per international standards) for an individual.The certification covers six modules as follows:
§ Mandatory Module: Introduction to Financial Planning.
§ Module 1 : Risk Management and Insurance Planning.
§ Module 2: Retirement Planning and Employee Benefits.
§ Module 3: Investment Planning.
§ Module 4: Tax Planning and Estate Planning.
§ Module 5: Advance financial planning.
Duration:
The duration of the course is linked with the number of exams you take, whereas to appear for the exam you need to register your Student Membership with FPSB, India, 2 months in advance, before taking the exam.

Examination:
Examinations are conducted every month. One has to study all six modules but has to sit for only five module examinations whereas you get the exemption to sit for the first module exam as it is being distributed in the further four module for the weightage of 20% each.
