CoI for a Private Limited company typically comes within **3 to 5 working days** of filing SPICe+, but the timeline can extend if the Registrar raises a query.
Here is how to check where your application stands:
1. Log into **MCA21 portal** and go to MCA Services > View Company/LLP Master Data. Search your proposed company name.
2. If the company appears with an SRN (Service Request Number), the form is with the Registrar for review.
3. If the Registrar has raised a query, you will get an email on your registered address and you typically have **15 days to respond** with corrections.
Common reasons for delays:
- Name resembles an existing registered company
- Documents incomplete or insufficient (for example, NOC for office address not attached)
- DSC of director flagged in the system
If all documents are clean and there is no query, CoI is usually issued within a week. Once you have the CoI, the first compliance step is **INC-20A** (declaration of commencement of business) which must be filed within 180 days.
