Dear All


We are as a broking service company availing various services from the companies located other than delhi. The services includes  like telephone (Reliance) , technological services (CTCL-Financial tech), Insurance (National) etc..The end output  services of all these input services are providing from delhi office where our main office are located.


As a company where the registration number is not the central one, whether we could possible to set off the service tax paid on the bills of above mentioned services availed against our service tax liability on brokerage services.


Please give me en elaborate reply by quoting necessarry section concerned as well any circular/ruling etc.,


Whether the existing service tax regn number can be upgraded to central one or fresh regn.required ?

From your query i guess you have a decentralised registeration. In this respect you can get a centralised registeration provided you have centralised billing or have maintained centralised accounting in respect of such taxable services in a premises. In addition the same you can also get centralisation at the zonal and regional level. (refer circular no. 97/6/2007) As relating to the transfer of input credit even that is possible you may refer to Rule 7 which deals with the provisions of Input service distributor and assess your case accordingly.
