1) We are manufacturers of garments, and part of the manufacturing is done through job workers.

our turnover is of 1.5Cr, are we applicable to get our self registered under the Act ?

2) what is the limit to get our self registered ?

3) the person from whome we acquire goods is a registered dealer, and charges excise on the goods sent to us.

how are we supposed to deal with the excise charged in the case on Refund / setoff as we are not registered with the department.

(We are registered with the VAT dept, so can the excise levied be set off against the vat payable by us ?)

Excise duty is applicable on branded clothes and your manufacturing is done through job workers hence you are liable for registration Excise duty is on manufacturer but you have to register under central excise as a trader.
