Dear Dev, i think 3 months time is sufficient 4 study,

I m sharing my experience. This was my 4th attempt, i always study very hard but every time i got failed in mics, and i have decided this time that AV MICS KO HI DEKHTE HAIN

I was also working with an organisation, and i had only 3 hrs in a day to study, i started to read costind daily and  i had completed costing in 35 days by devoting 3 hrs daily except sunday. Every sundy i use to read IDT. i took leave for one month from my org. after taking leave i had only 2 papers 2 study DT and MICS. Daily i use to study DT and MICS  for 4 hrs and i gave 2 hrs for costing and 2 hrs for IDT 4 revision.

Befor 15 days from the examination my all papers were balanced, then i thought about getting 60+ in a paper and i choose MICS, i had revised MICS 3 times in 15 days bt devoting 2 hrs daily.

After giving the examination i was very sure that ti time i will get the degree just becoz of MICS,

and on 17th jan this was my rsult:

Ha.. Ha... Nice Amit.... you did split second practice....Good.... I too cleared second group by taking just 15 days leave & mine was also 4th attempt.... Actually, this MICS paper is a scoring paper when compared to Costing, DT & IDT... & it is easy yo study it.... When i told it to my friends, then always used to tell how come a theory paper can be a scoring paper....? Reason is simple... MICS they cant twist questions... All questions are direct & hence we wont get "surprise" questions (One exception is my second attempt in which we had a practical problem in MICS for 10 marks... Something like Risk exposure they asked... Do you remember it...?).... & in all other cases, it is direct questions.... Again, they cant find new questions it seems.... So, old questions itself gets repeated.... Which makes students job easier....!!!!! Just refer compilation & go & write the exam....!!!!! You got 3 marks more in DT & IDT na.... My marks are... Costing-46, MICS-60, DT-46, IDT-48... Total 200.....!!!! Passed because of MICS....!!!!! But i expected still more marks in MICS....

Hi Amit and Vivek...Thank u both of u for giving a veru gud sueggestions...Iam also working I hardly get time to study at home as Iam married and small kid also..I do get only 1 month leave for exams..I was so worreid that How can I make it in 1 month..Presently Iam taking coaching for costing, MICS & IDT...Please advice me the timetable for 1 month study..also..will it be suffieicnt for costing if we do class..notes complitaions and study materaial..

 

HOW TO STUDY DT ????????? I have Manoharan Books..so big ,...buk...Iam so worried..whether I can pass in this subject or not..Iam daly studying for 1 hrs...please give tips for DT preparation..as other 3 I thik I can manage with coaching...

I HAD ATTEMPTED SERIOUSLY FROM NOVE09 AND REMAINED FAIL AND I FOUND A SEA CHANGE IN STUDY PATTERN AND EVALUATION SYSTEM OF CA INSTITUTE . I CAN SUGGEST THE FOLLOWING TIPS FOR MY SELF AND ALL ASPIRANTS OF CA’S.

 

v     For Cost. Lots of practice of all important topics according to the scanner . it will save the times . Understand the concepts of the chapter and do the practice of the important chapters .  Practice  at least four times for a whole chapter until u r not able to understand a questions just at glance and a quick frame in your mind 4 answer. Pl makes a notes for theory portion also  and do not miss it please. Mock practice after completing the revisions in the examination conditions.

v     For theory you must read your subjects first time like a novel and second time point out for important topics of the chapter and third time like a expert for bullet point of the most important . Fourth time u must be able to conceptualize the chapter and its contents by just overlooking any chapter.

v      FOR EXAM TIME  pl make a very brief handouts for just quick review. most important point -u must discuss orally with your friend important topics just at ease with handouts. it will give you permanent memory.

 

Are the above strategies ok. Pl suggest .

Hi Dev, You are lucky man…!!! Satuday, Sunday off…. I got only Sunday off… That too in some Sundays, I had to go to office… Every day, I used to reach home by 7.45… From 9.00 PM to 1Am-2AM I used to study… If I cant sit in night.., I used to get up early & study… From you are marks, I think you not having problem with DT, right….? Costing don’t ignore theory questions… See the attachment… I have attached all theory questions asked in exam… Prepare answers to those questions… There is another file in that attachment which contains answers to some of the theory questions in costing…. In exam, answer theory exams first… reason: In costing all students start with problems…, at the end they don’t get time to answer theory questions… At the end of the day, most end up with “mistakes in problems & not attempted theory”… So, if you answer theory first in costing, your paper looks different & catches the attention of the examiner & you will get good marks… Remember Chak De India dialog of SRK : “Hamla samne vale ki goal post per nahi… Hamla samne vale ki dimag par karo… Goal apne ap Banjayegi….!!!!” So, answering your paper in a different way is a must…. After theory, then go for QT part (like transportation, assignment, LPP, Learning curve etc etc) because, if you know how to solve, you can solve without much difficult & chances of scoring is very high….So…. In marginal costing, ABC, transfer pricing etc you can solve atleast 25% even if you don’t know anything… But QT part you cant touch if you don’t know… So, give more attn to QT part…. Another important is solve problems from compilations…. It will help a lot…. MICS only compilation…. Read a question from compilation (not answer…!!!), refer the file attached by me… Prepare your own notes to that question by referring to the fiels uploaded by me… I have uploaded 4 files of MICS…. Out of them 3 files are short point wise notes…. Another file is Ranjith Jayadevan… it is around 185 pages you can ignore it, if you don’t need… But take print of 2nd page of it… It contains which chapters to study first, which comes second etc… (5stars means high important, 4 means important, 3 means average, 2 star means less imp like that)… For IDT, refer to the file uploaded by me… (you can find it by visiting my profile & there “files”,, Name of File is IDT summary)… But it is not updated…. But you can use it with latest edition of Bangar book…But read a chapter from that file & then read relevant chapter in Bangar Book… By this, you will come across all amendments…. That file clearly explains the entire chapter in just 2-3 pages…. Very good…. This is the method I followed… I hope it is useful to you also..

To Nagalaxmi.... First of all hats off to you.... Studying with small kid... Great.... Refer to my above psot... May be little useful to you in Costing, MICS & IDT....

Regading DT, i agree TN manohran is very vast..... You better switch to Yopgendra Bangar book..... They also publish a compilation which contain solutions to past exam papers of DT....

U can also use attached file... For DT... They explain some chapters of DT in simple words.. Specially, assessment procedures.... But take care of amendments.... Becuase, those files are not updated.... Still use can use them by noting amendments (I think Manoharan book contains amendments in first few pages... you can use them here)...

Regarding coaching, i dont want to comment... becuase i did not went to coaching for a single paper.... Did self study.... So, dont want to comment on which coaching si good.. etc etc...

Hi Vivek..thank u for the files and suggestions...Mine 2 groups are pending..day by day iam loosing confidence.i attempted for grp 1 three times..got failed in law always......this time writing 2nd grp....

 

can u suggest can i appear for 1st grp also..this time..by reading compilations and selective study..or else ...to give that time to 2nd grup..instead...?? wht do u suggesst...I need to get confidence ..

Hi nagalaxmi... For Law i referred only compilation.... But suggest you to use Munish Bhandari Book instead of compilation... regarding attempts, i alsways wrote both groups.. Cleared 1st group in third attempt & second group in fourth attempt... In your case, i suggest you to write 1 group at a time... Second group is easy when compared to 1st group... So, first gv more time to it... If you clear seocnd group, you will get confidence...

But apply both & write both groups... But give more attn to second group....

Hi Nagalaxmi.., by passing CA, i did not belonged to the category of "great people".... Becoming a good human is important than becoming CA...
Anyhow, i have to complete GMCS & apply for membership.., after that only I can use the word CA...!!!! & Hv to apply for good job... Pray that i get placement in a good company...
