I have undergone a change in 1st name. I am a member of CS INSTITUTE n when there is change is 1st name the institute is asking for " Extracts of attested copy of Gazette Notification".
I am from kolkata and please let me know that how to fulfill this requirement, what i have to do n in which office of govt. i need to go so as to get the " Extracts of attested copy of Gazette Notification".

For change of name, the procedure is one has to submit an application to the State Govt. dept. It will take at least 2 to 3 weeks for change of name. after that the said change will be published in Official Gazette (which is a book containing the change of names of persons during the month) of the respective State Govt. I think, in your case it will be West Bengal. You have to provide the photocopy of the page where your change of name appears.
You can also check with the West Bengal govt. site in the Net.
