Can we get TDS return of previous years?

TDS 230 views 4 replies

Hello,

In one of bank account of my wife, I am seeing that there was a TDS deduction of around Rs.4300. Upon checking, I see that there has been deductions in past many years too.
She is homemaker and doesn't have any income, so she should be under tax slab. Am I understanding it correct?
Can she get return of deducted TDS of previous years?
Please suggest.
Thanks

Yes after paying a penalty and successful filing of returns.

There is TDS deduction of Rs.4300 and same should be there in previous years too. I read in few other places that penalty could be Rs.5000 for one year. In that case, it would not be wise to pay penalty and claim that deducted TDS. Is my understanding correct on this?

There is a tax deduction of Rs. 4300, and the same should have been deducted in the years before this one as well. In a couple other places, I read that the potential punishment was Rs. 5000 for one whole year.

First of all you should know you can file updated returns for the last 2 years  only i,e. F.Y. 20-21 & 21-22. & If your income is not taxable then penalty is 1000/- RS. & not 5000/-
