Can we file ITR from regional office?

Hi,

We are a software services company with majority of our revenue from exports. We have our registered office in Kerala and regional office in Karnataka

Over period of time our Karnataka office has outgrown Kerala office. We are plannign to move our finance operations (Accountant, Chartered Accountant, Banks etc..) to Bangalore office. We start billing from KArnataka office and continue billing from Kerala office as well.

Can we keep regitered office in Kerala and have our IT returns filed in Karnataka? Currently we are filing our taxes in Kerala.

You can file manual return only at the place were your registered office is located, however an e return can be filed from anywhere, means the ward and range do not changes. the ward and range of an assessee is alloted depending upon the location. in case of corporate assessee, the registered office is taken into account. so in your case you have to file ITR to kerala jurisdiction. if u want to file it from other location then first change yr reg. ogfice by passing a board resolution, file it to ROC with proper fees. transfer yr IT file to ITO of banglore jurisdiction then it is possible to file ITR in banglore.
