Generally, Input Tax Credit (ITC) is not available for mediclaim policies, as these are considered personal expenses blocked under Section 17(5) of the GST law. However, if an employer is legally mandated to provide medical insurance to employees, ITC may be claimable. There's a point of discussion regarding temporary MHA guidelines during lockdown, which might create confusion for claiming ITC due to their temporary nature and varying periods.
Your querry is related to mediclaim which you have taken for self then the same can't be taken as per the law. If you are a employer and you are required to take medical insurance policy as per legal requirement then the same is not Blocked. You can claim deduction under section 80D in the Income tax act regarding mediclaim insurance policy for self.
It is block s u/s 17(5) but during Lockdown MHA issued guildlines to all employers to take medical insurance compulsory and as per law if mandatory by law itc will available but there is a confusion bco guildlines changed every 15 days and it was temporarily basis it we take credit may be officer disallowed becoz guildlines are only for specific period
