Can i apply for cop ?

CA 867 views 2 replies

Hi I am a Chartered Accountant. I am working in a CA firm as an employee.I want to work there for 2-3 years and start up my own practice later. Am I eligible to apply for COP now? (I am not doing any other job other than this).

I have already paid my membership fees for the current year. If I apply for COP do I have to pay the Practising members fees fully or the balance amount?

Kindly reply

Yes, a Chartered Accountant working in a C.A. firm can hold CoP. However, w.e.f.1.4.2005, he is not entitled to do any attest function.

If you'r an employee of a CA firm it is equivalent to being in Industry. You should disclose this fact in the application form while applying for COP. The council will take a decision whether to grant COP or not.
