Can an article assistant call himself an auditor?

@ Balaji- If client introduce the staff members as auditors  then it automatically doesnt makes those who arent  auditor as auditor  as per prevailing law.

Every client doesnt know abt who should be called as auditor and who shouldnt...it is on we the ca students and members who knows in depth on the said issue  and should politely ask dos client to call dem as audit staf member and not  auditor unless we really are.

Clients calls article trainee as auditor only for their convinenince.

Only a member of ICAI can be appointed as auditor of an Indian  company under the Comapanies Act ,1956. The management of the Institute is vested with its Council with the president acting as its Chief Executive Authority. A person can become a member of ICAI by taking prescribed examinations and undergoing three years of practical training. .so at present u r undergoing articleship so u r not a member of ICAI....so u CAN't call urself Auditor

He can be called Audit Assistant and not Auditor until he complete CA and formed his own CA Firm and  is appointed by any company as Audttor ( whether statutory or internal). Auditor is not a designation after passing CA he will called CA ................. and member of the Institute of chartered accountant of India  and not Auditor until he is appointed as auditor by any company , Bank , soicety etc.
