I am a Chartered Accountant presently engaged in job and I want to do IAS but there is one problem that is if I have to do IAS, I have to quit my Job for IAS which I do not as it is not sure that one can become an IAS officer only by thinking it requires lot of hard work and dedication, If I quit my Job and focus more on IAS then what if by chance I do not clear UPSC then after a year or two year it is not possible to come back to CA again as all the laws and regulations will be changed , thats the problem is with me . Now totally confused whether to do IAS or not.

Sir,

The educational qualifications required is either a graduate degree or an equivalent qualification. A candidate possessing a professional qualification such as CA, CS or CWA may also appear for the exam as these are provided by Institutes recognised by statute.

Attached below is a copy of the letter sent by UPSC to ICAI acknowledging that a person who has completed CA finals may also appear.

https://resource.cdn.icai.org/27160ICAI-UPSC.pdf

To appear for the exam also consider the revised age criterion and number of attempts allowed.

Wish you all the best.
