icai is somehow lagging behind in doing something goood for ca studetns to mantain this professions dignity and uniqueness. icai should have done features like:

reduce participation fee in ca campus

do not bar students to appear in more than one campus

give an option to opt another center if the choosen center is not able to provide good companies for recruitement

i think the fees charged to the companies is very high and yes the recession is the main cause

There are also unverified reports that Infosys visited Chandigarh campus at the 11th hour; and ICAI failed to inform the CA freshers...........Infy recruited only 1 CA.....what a disaster!!
