Calculating audit sample using ms-excel

The Question is that how can we determine or select the audit sample in practical situation e.g. we have an accounting data extracted from financial accounting software let’s say Bank payments around 500 transactions or payment vouchers and we have to audit or examine the voucher around 150 or 200 so should we select manually the random numbers if yes it will take so much time and we might not select the appropriate random numbers, but it on few steps in MS-Excel.

Here is the step by step guide on how to select audit sample from accounting data using MS-Excel.
 

1. Open the data in Excel.
2. go to Tools and click on “Ad Ins”.
3. Select Analysis tool pack in Ad Ins and click ok.
4. If Analysis tool pack is not installed it will ask to install click yes it will be automatically installed.
5. Click on "Tools" under the menu bar. Open a new Excel document. You will see that the data analysis command listed, which indicates the program has been added properly.
