Hi dear friends and seniors,
I am Akilan,  a newly qualified Chartered Accountant.
I would like to know the prospects of beginning my career by moving to New Zealand.
I need clarifications on the following:
1. Which field in Finance is of high demand -- Reporting and analysis, Internal Audit, Investment banking, Taxation, IS Audit?
2. If there is good scope for a fresher Chartered Accountant to get placed in New Zealand.
3. What will be the approximate take home pay.
4. Will any additional qualification/ certification be helpful?
5. Please suggest me on these and also any reference portal which will be helpful to me regarding courses, job portals, references.
6. For a fresher Indian CA, to work abroad, is New Zealand preferable or other countries like UK, Australia, Canada, UAE, Singapore?
Please guide me on these. It would be of great help.
Thanking you
Warm regards
Akilan PL

I think ICAI has signed  MOUs with a lot of other accounting bodies. You may have to search for them in Google to know the way and the prospects. Secondly you may have to sit and take the exams and to meet the criteria of becoming a certified accountant in some other country you may even have to meet the criteria of work experience.

So its better you try joining a BIG 4 or an MNC and sit for examinations(CPA/CIMA/CFA etc.) to get on to the right path. Don't make hasty decisions only for an abroad job as any such move can prove costly.

I advice you to research the options throughly and take a final decision.

From my side, if you are good in accounting go for CPA in your favorite destination.

If you are good in Finance go for CFA/FRM.

If you are good in Management then work for couple of years and also learn the aptitude skills which are needed to clear the management entrances and get an MBA.

Hope this helps
