Hi All,

I need your consultation with respect to whether It is advisable to do CA for the one who is having non-commerce background.

My wife has done BA (History) Honours and she wants to opt for CA. My worries are:

1. Whether she will be able to do CA without having commerce background.

2. Will CA firms will give her articleship as she is from non-commerce background?

Kindly suggest me, your feedback will be appreciated.

If she has passion to do CA then you must encourage her to take up the course. Refrain from pushing her into a course which is not interested otherwise it may impact both of you adversely.

My opinion: A person with non-commerce background can opt for CA. I was a science and maths student upto class 12. My subjects were maths, biology, physics, chemistry and English... And now i m a CA final student with just 1 group left. So, i think willpower matters.

agred with both above comments.... you just need passion and will power... past doesnt matter.. if u work hard in present... your future will b what u dreamed for...

agreed with them....
I am also a non commerce student and a final student. I think if you support that much and she also wishes to study you can opt for CA.
U should encourage her. Ca course is made for peoples, not peoples made for ca course.
It is right...ca course is made 4 peoples, offcourse she can do this..
Same here... I m non commerce student.. I got 139 marks in cpt nd in ipcc, 89,79,69,60,49,53,48 marks... so u can better think... past doesn't matter...
If she wants do CA she has to have good basic knowledge of Accounting with conceptual clarity, then rest of CA will be easier, otherwise she has to face problems at IPCC level as well as final, try to give her good accounts coaching she can feel CA is easier
I think apart from will power what about basic my openion it should be mandatory Heaving commerce background.
It has been found that non commerce students are able to do the course well than the commerce department so it doesn't matter nly ur willpower matters.... So go ahead and support her.. Atb

Hi Kartik,

I am a BSc Maths grad of 1982 and it took me 4 months to grasp from fundamentals of Dr Cr to CA Inter level. Thats a different story. Your wife is a History Grad. I presume that she took history out of passion for the subject. I she avoids doing CA ( forget about the passionate encouragement for doing CA ) since the mind sets are entirely different.

Better to go through cpt
Its better if she goes in teaching profession as she needs only b.ed degree and there is lot of vacancy for arts teacher..... and it will be very short and easy if compared with CA which takes minimun 4yrs if passed in one attempt with 3 yrs articleship.... think ....
