my ca final attempt is due in may 2017 and i am considering my studies alongside my articleship. please give suggestions that which of these subjects i should prepare by myself by viewing the video classes of well reputed teachers? - financial reporting, sfm, advanced management accounting.

Self preparation is the best preparation.
You can start with AMA, FR, SFM where the chances of amendments in subject is less.
You can learn a lot in Corporate Law, Auditing and Taxes during your articleship. But in these subjects, frequent amendments will come.
The problem with ISCA is if you start studying it now, you'll forget it by the time its 2017.

I am totally agree with Mr. Iyer. You should start your studies right or else you will find that syllabus is too much to cover within last year. Start with AMA. This subject doesn't change and you can use Institute Practice Manual for self study, that is more than enough. Still you want to solve some extra problems use Padhuka.
For SFM you can use JB Gupta's video lectures. Book is also good.
For FR you can use Praveen Sharma's video lectures, that is, if you can arrange them. For Book go for M.P. Vijayakumar(Best for Self Study).
For Accounting Standards go for Padhuka.(DS Rawat are not detailed much)
