Ca final new syllabus vs old syllabus

CA 4999 views 10 replies

My CA final first attempt is in may 2016. I only attempted group 2 in nov 2017. Due to unfavourable circumstances i could not appear for other attempts nor completed coaching of all 8 subjects. I only took coaching for isca and ama in group 2.

I took a long gap of more than a year. I want to start my preparation freshly. I want to attempt in nov 2019 attempt. Since I neither completed coaching of group1 nor qualified group2 I want shift to new syllabus??

1. If I shift to new syllabus whether my attempt will be regarded as first attempt?? Or my attempts will be counted since may 2016??

2. Which is more advantageous as of now in terms of pass % , difficulty levels , securing jobs??

Please help me

I suggest please give exam in New syllabus

Can u please give reasons for ur opinion.. Many people are saying pass % in old syllabus will be very high in last few attempts and difficulty level is less comparatively. I am confused

Now result is very high in New syllabus.. You also can check it

i think u should opt for old syllabus only
as u r familiar to it and attempts of olf will be included even if u shift to new syllabus
November 2019 is still a long way off.
Old syllabus will be defunct in November 2020.
By the time you give an attempt there will be many students who will have passed the exam from new syllabus. Even if you clear the November 19 exam. Imagine yourself in a interview - you wouldn't have an updated knowledge. This would be like using Windows xp while an option for Windows 10 is available. Sure XP works fine but it is not necessary that everyone will share the same view.

Since you have the necessary time I'd suggest you go for the new syllabus.

In case you need more than one attempt to clear atleast you would've to study the same thing instead of panicking and studying for new syllabus in a shorter period of time. Like imagine attempting November 2020 attempt knowing, if you don't clear, you'd have to learn quite a few things in a short span of time. (I hope it never comes to this, but if it does, choosing new syllabus today will be a wiser move from this perspective)

Also classes no longer teach old syllabus Live.

Plus you'd be learning things that are updated as per today's requirement. Learning new things over the older version will always be a good thing. There's more than enough time for you to cover the new syllabus for November 2019 with or without classes.

As for your questions,

1. It would be wise to log in to ICAI'S E sahaayta portal and ask the question or call the ICAI helpline.

2. The difficulty level will be the same as old syllabus. It's just that you would learn new things.
Most subjects will have the same content you already know anyway. The gist of it will remain the same.
If you hated ISCA, it won't be present so that's good in a way. Once you qualify, jobs will be available anyway but as I said, it will differ from person to person, if it matters that a person is a ca from old or new syllabus.
Don't look at it from a perspective of passing percentage. It's not as if one syllabus has ipcc level syllabus and the other version is going to be a really tough ca final version. Choose any option you want but definitely it won't be a case of EASY VS TOUGH SYLLABUS.

Also by the time you attempt, you'd have atleast 3 exams worth material to refer to, for understanding how to write, prepare and attempt the new version.
Hello Lavanya. I am going through almost similar situation. Old vs. New. I have also heard results will be good in old. So what you decided? Old or new?

I hope exams will be conducted well, even I am depressed for the exams..
