I wish to appear for the November 2014 CA Final exams (1st group only). The books I have are of an old edition (all reference books of 2011 edition except Auditing which is of December 2010 edition). I know that's pretty outdated. Do I really need to buy new books for Financial Reporting and Strategic Financial Management as well? I know Corporate and Allied Laws has gone through a lot of changes. Please advise as to which subjects have gone through enough change as to justify the buying of a new book. I am downloading the past 3 years papers with suggested answers to cover the questions asked in those papers. I would like to know the amendments these subjects (including Accounting Standards and Auditing Standards) have gone through since 2011.

N.B. I know the books I have are of a really old edition. But I am trying to save money. So please give me your suggestions accordingly.

Just go for new edition of law and audit otherwise u will loose much money than new books cost. hpy reading....

Dear Student,

Buying a new book would give you updated information as well as emotional satisfaction that you are updated. Both are important for exams.

Even if not new book, atleast buy the new study material for FR & SFM. For Auditing and Law you may have to definitely buy a new book since there are lot of updations (ex., Company Law 2013). I would suggest you to pick up Padhuka's Auditing and Law Series, since I am a faculty here and I know about that book. Having said this, any book is a good book in the Market if you stick on to it.
