Frank's Fast Food Eatery offers a Saturday Soccer Team Special. When student sports teams come in wearing their uniforms and accompanied by their coaches, they can get 1 hamburger free for every 5 they purchase.
The entire Meadowland team wore their uniforms and went to Frank's Eatery for lunch with their 2 coaches. Each person, including the players and coaches, had 1 hamburger with toppings. Each player had a cola and shared a bag of fries with 1 other teammate. The 2 coaches each had his own order of fries and a coffee. The total bill (no tax) for the students and coaches came to $42.10.

There were 12 players in the team.
Hamburger with toppings: 12 x 2 = $ 27.00 (1 free on 5) - Including Coaches
Fries : 8 x .95= $ 7.60 (2 coaches + 12/2 (shared with players)
Cola : 12x .50 = $ 6.00 (12 players only)
Coffee : 2 x .75 = $ 1.50 (2 Coaches only)
My answer is 12 Players.
First assume that the coaches have eaten their hamburgers for free, you get the total amount paid by the 2 coaches ($ 3.40) . Subract this amt. from the total bill of $42.10. The remaining is 38.70 - the total bill of players. Take the total no. of players as 'x'.
Now, since the 2 coaches have received free hamburgers, the min. no. of players has to be 10. Taking 10 as the no. of players does not give us the answer. Hence, form a simple equation using 'x' and solve. (0.50x + 0.475x + 2.25x = 38.70) The answer is 12.
