Best book for income tax (PCC)

Manoharan is good.

I have not gone through all books, but I would suggest Padhuka Book for the followings reason

1. Very student friendly and simple on concepts ( I know everybody says it, so here is an example: In salaries, we have to know what is the meaning of salaries for each cases of exemption or deduction. In this book, they say that there are only three definitions of salaries and first two defintion are for only two exemptions and the last defintion for all other exeption)
2. All past 20 years exam questions are worked out with Current AY provisions
3. Total Income PRoblems are seperately worked out as a Chapter for easy revision
4. Working notes which should form part of the answer are highlighted in each question

As for your query on amendment, instead of following any book, I would suggest this.

Download Supplementary study material from ICAI Website. The Link is

Right now, it is having only Finance Act, 2008, but do watch out for 2009. For you to get confidence, download it and take June 09 and Nov 09 paper of Tax and check out how many questions have been directly picked from amendment.

Last piece of this long boring advice is, don't keep changing books, all books are good. Stick to it. I know a guy who got 80 in Tax by reading Institute Study material. Enjoy Tax.

just go for girish ahuja book. My one frnd got 90 marks by just reading girish ahuja book in pcc june 2009. Don't forget to read amendments.It covers nearly 50% marks

how can we find the amendments?
