Be Alert - Bogus Tax Claims Exposed: IT Dept Warns Employees

Till December 2024, 90,000 taxpayers admitted to incorrect deduction claims worth Rs.1070 crore and paid additional tax.

Officials estimate that the actual number of bogus claims to be three times higher.

Violations are common in some companies and have more cases of fake claims.

IT Department's Action: 

The Income Tax Department is engaging with employers in these clusters, asking them to inform their employees to avoid such practices.
