Somebody please tell me basic details about VAT and CST. Related to registration and all the procedures.

VAT is value aded tax on sales of goods listed in the schedules and not exempt.CST is the same tax levied on sales causing movement of goods across the state borders. Registration is done for both on-line through e-registration process in all state web sites of VAT depts......mjk
