Bank not issuing tds certificate- no pan on file

TDS 907 views 4 replies

I went to the bank this morning to get my TDS certificate for the A.Y 11-12. The bank told me that they cannot issue TDS certificate since there is no PAN Number on file with them. The tax was deducted at double the rate.

I was issued TDS certificate without pan card since the last few years and I took credit for the same when I filed my returns. This year I was told that I will not get any credit for the tax deducted even if I submit PAN now.

This does not sound right to me. Please advise. Has there be any changes in the last year?

Regards and thank you.

P.S: This is a Pvt Ltd Co account and all the documents were submitted at the time of opening of account and in 2009 for the KYC requirement. Still the bank some how manages not to have PAN on file.

You will have to file the Income Tax Return and claim the TDS deducted by the Bank at higher rate as Income Tax Refund.

Make sure (doubly) that you have provided your PAN No. to the bank.

If so then they might NOT have entered  the same in their master.(I am sure had they entered in their master data of your account this would not have happened.)

Now after convincing yourself that you have given enough opportunity to correct themselves -

- approach ombudsman of Bank

-copy  to ombudsman of the Income Tax Dept.

?ng why you should suffer loss when they cannot ensure implementation of a rule.

thus you will surely get the certificate.

Thanks for the reply.

Just a quick question.

No tax refund applicable in my case. Tax deducted at 20%, tax liability 30%. I want to pay the additional 10% and finish it of. Can i get a TDS certificate from the bank without My pan quoted but showing the tax deducted and the account name like I used to get in the previous years. I dont want to land up paying the 20% again.

Regards and Thanks a Lot for you help.

The above reply is for ...........?..........!!!
