Dear Mr Shirish
Yes, only excel utilities for ITR-1 and ITR-4 for AY2025-26 had been made available by the IT Department as of now.
If you are in a rush to file, you can do thru the excel utility.
Minimum requirement is MS Windows 7 with MS Excel 2013. Lower than these do not work.
And after doing everything in the excel utility, finally, generate the json file for the itr and upload it.
Advantage of using the excel utilities compared to online is that one is able to take time to fill the data carefully, recheck thoroughly multiple times, then only generate json file. All this is offline without remaining connected to the IT Department site, which is a huge plus point.
And finally upload the json. Possible to do it with poor internet connection also since the json file is a tiny one and gets uploaded easily.

Thanks for the info. Whether Prefilled Json can be down loaded and then put in upload. Secondly whether this file can be edited in online facility if any like last time.

Mr Shirish,
The excel utilities of previous years allowed importing data from json files, which were created with same excel file but of earlier version.
For example itr-1.1.0.xls created a json file xyz.json. Later a new version of itr issued by IT department named itr-1.1.1.xls. The new version was able to import data from the xyz.json.
However, since the structure of this year's excel utility is modified a lot, I do not think it would be possible to import data from downloaded json files created last year or earlier.
Someone else, more knowledgeable than me, may enlighten further.

For All members,
Good morning & Good news:-
Tried importing data from AY24-25 json to AY25-26 ITR-1 Excel Utility.
IT WORKS.
All data got imported, including INCOME DETAILS worksheet, TDS worksheet, TCS worksheet and TAXES PAID & VERIFICATION worksheet.
Have not tried ITR-4 Excel Utility, since I do not have any sample json to test with.
Anyone with ITR-4 json could test importing data and report the findings for all of us.

I also downloaded ITR-4 XL utility. I downloaded prefilled .json file and tried importing the data in XL utility. After about 2 or 3 min it says upgrade XL to 64 bit. I have about 30 TDS+ TCS + Adv Tax data. It says data large .

Mr Shirish
The excel utilities ITR-1 & 4 provided by I-T Dept are (x32) files, and can work in both (x32) and (x64) Windows and Excel.
I have used only (x32) Windows 7 with Excel 2013 , for ITR-1 json import test and it works. The TDS data not very much in my test case.
I-T Dept site says to use Windows 7 , 8, 10 with Excel 2016. Does not mention anything about (x32) or (x64) although excel utilities provided are (x32).
If your computer has Windows 10 (would be x64) and Excel is 2016 are later, then your json import to ITR-4 may work.
Give a try in Windows 10 (x64) with Office 2016 or later and you may succeed.

I have Windows 10 and Office 2019 (Microsoft 365) Registered version. Not all TDS have come in 26AS. Will wait till 15 June . I hope I will be able to log in from abroad.

Win 10, Office 2019 with you are (x64) so it is surprising why json import failed. Especially, the json files are (x32), as far as I know.
Regarding logging in from abroad ( I suppose, u mean from outside India), are you talking about I-T site or CAClub ?
If it is I-T site, then possibilities of issues can be expected since, post Sindoor, all Indian Govt sites have got firewall to prevent access from outside India.

Forgot to mention, TIN site for 26AS is not accessible from outside India from 2024 itself

Same now for AIS/TIS download - the site cannot be accessed from outside India, although I-T Tax filing site can be opened and log-in works.
