I wanted to know something about recovery of tax dues from practical view point.
Does the IT Dept. issue any notice to assessee or bank before attaching the bank account of the assessee. And can FD accounts of the assessee be attached.

The proceedings are known as garnishee proceedings and the dept has the power to do so. No notice actually necessary as the demand has already been raised by issue of DN and it contains the notice that all kinds of permissible recovery proceedings shall be initiated in the event of failure to pay within the permitted time. Ok?
