I've heard that Articleship transfer these days have been stopped by the Big Firms ... i.e. 1 cannot transfer himself from 1 firm to other Big Firm ... the Big Firms have stopped taking transferred articles now-a-days. So is it a waste to try out for a transfer now . I just now gave my PCE Nov.2008 - i thought i'll transfer to a Big Firm - so i got permission from my current auditor for transfer .
Its better to get the vacancy confirmed, and then discuss abt the transfer. first apply to the big4 orgs. if u get placed there, then u can leave ur current firm as well. but dont discuss it unnecessarily with ur principal now...and dont give up (abt big4) b4 applying...

Actually the person giving reference to me told that he'll give reference only if my auditor gives me permission for termination - so i just took permission from him that i am applying for Big Firms - I have now applied to KPMG thru reference and E&Y and S&S without reference . My time is getting so much wasted because i am not even going to my current office and i don't want to go there too . So just wanted to know how much time will it take????? - all Big Firms will tell that they don't have vacancy - its a standard reply .
everything in life doesnt always happen exactly how we want it to happen. u hav got to be patient. big4 people do hav other work than to select article trainees. keep that in mind & dont let frustration creep in. it may take time.
