Hi Sonia!

Here’s what applies regarding your articleship extension and transfer:

1. Completing Extended Articleship Under a New Principal:

Yes, you can complete your extended articleship under a new principal. The extension period doesn’t have to be with the old principal only. You just need to properly notify ICAI about the change by filing the required forms.

2. Transfer to a New Principal (500 km away):

  • ICAI allows articleship transfer to a new principal, even if the new place is far (like 500 km).

  • You need to get No Objection Certificate (NOC) from your current principal.

  • File the Form 103 (for transfer) with ICAI to get approval for the transfer.

  • Once ICAI approves, you can continue your articleship with the new principal at the new location.

Summary of steps for transfer & extension:

  • Get NOC from old principal.

  • File Form 103 for transfer.

  • ICAI approval.

  • Join new principal and serve the remaining articleship period.

  • Extension period can be served with the new principal.
