When we appoint a person on contract basis in a company directly without going to agent service. TDS is being deducted at 1% in 194C.
The question is , are we supposed to pay GST also?

Not over appointment.....
But the contractor (employee) may charge GST over his invoices, provided liable to GST.
TDS over the invoice/s should be deducted as per section applicable over his services.....

Can we consider Section 194C and deduct 1% TDS because he is an Individual. But the payment is above 5 lacs.

What is his services ?
If working as professional TDS sec 194J may apply.........
