whether gst is applicable on cleaning and sweeping services in a government hospital. pls clarify.

Sir, It a supply of service hance taxable, but in general these type of service are taken from contractors, hence the tax rate will be in 18 % slabs,
more over if the value of supply is more then Rs 250000 the govt paying authories have to Deduct TDS u/s 51 of the csgt act 2017 and same shall be deposited to govt by 10th of next month before filing the return on same date.

govt. hospital being a public undertaking catering services to general public is there any exemption from GST on cleaning and sweeping services

NO, this type of service are not essential for public but is is only support to essential services.
